Hobby, lieutenant governor of Texas, will speak at 8 p.m. Monday in 701 Rudder. His talk, entitled “The 1980 Legislature. What the future holds, ” is sponsored by MSC Political Forum. Since his election as lieutenant governor in 1972, Hobby served as chairman of the National Conference of Lieutenant Governors and was a member of the Executive Commit tee of the Council of State Govern ments. He is chairman of the Legis lative Budget Board and co- chairman of the Texas Energy and Natural Resources Advisory Council. In addition, Hobby chaired the 1978 State Democratic Convention and was re-elected in 1978 to a second four-year term as lieutenant governor. He is president of the Houston Post and has served on the Texas Air Control Board, the University of Houston Board of Regents and the Board of Directors of the Houston Chamber of Commerce. Hobby is a native of Houston and graduated from Rice University in 1953.
