She has the ability to sing this kind of music that Donna Summer or Linda Ronstadt lack. The ghost of Ronnie and the Ronettes is in evidence on “Prison er of Love.” The girl-groups of the fifties live! Benetar is one of the few artists who is capable of double- and triple-tracking her own back ground vocals and making them sound good. Benatar leaves us with a rocker. ‘‘Out-A-Touch” has the same theme that opened the album. This 11:300 ★★ , /z “Dive Bomber” (1941) Errol Flynn, Fred Mac Murray. A Navy doctor teams up with a flight instructor to tackle the medical problem of “pilot blackout” which is plagu ing fliers. girl’s life must be rough, she’s al ways getting the short end of the stick when it comes to romance. But “Out-A-Touch” is a little more up tempo than “Treat Me Right” and that in itself makes it a better tune. The only real difference between “Crimes of Passion” and it’s prede cessor is that Benetar has given up some of her more flagrant vocal gymnastics. What Benetar needs to do is find a certain direction to her music and follow it. “Crimes of Pas sion” is good, but it does have it’s flaws. Once Benetar knows where she is going, her music will place her in the same category with Linda Ronstadt or Deborah Harry. ' LADIES CHOOSE ^ MR.
