(G-1 hr., 26 min.) 7:30 0 © ★★★ "The Fury” (1978) Kirk Douglas, John Cas- Horror film gory, and scary “Terror Train” is scary. And, like most horror films, it was also funny. Review People who like to get scared at horror movies will like this movie. And people who like to laugh at other people getting scared will love it. If, on the other hand, you like good movies, don’t bother with this one. Basically, “Terror Train” is "Hal loween” on board a moving train. But the main characters are college fraternity members celebrating New Year’s Eve, rather than high school babysitters celebrating Hal loween. The basic carnage is the same, maybe worse, as the frats throw their last big college party. For some, it ends up being the last party of any kind. Anyone who has seen “Hallo ween” knows what is is going to happen. They just don’t know when. And in some cases, they don’t parti cularly want to see it when it does happen. Jamie Lee Curtis, the pursued babysitter from “Halloween,” por trays a pursued party-goer in this one. She plays a convincing chasee, but then she’s had a lot of practice. The audience follows Curtis through a series of predictable, gory events which lead up to the final revelation of whodunit. The problem is, the audience has a good idea about who did it, it just doesn’t know where the guilty party is. Hart Bochner, who played the golden-boy heartthrob in "Breaking Away,” plays a frat leader, a real creep who gets just what he de serves in "Terror Train.” Ben Johnson, who seems more at home aboard a horse than a train, has the grisly privilege of finding the first body, (Actually, it’s the second body, but the first one gets left be hind on the railroad tracks, sort of like the peanut that ended up as peanut butter. No further explana tion should be needed.) Johnson tries to take the situa tion in hand, with the help of Curtis. Both try to keep things under con trol, but as the audience knows, they do some really dumb things. But they must be forgiven, since they don’t know the killer is outside the window, or under the bed, or hanging outside the train. The killer, like the killer in "Hallo ween,” is your basic indestructable- killer type. He goes through more trials and tribulations than John Wayne ever did, and comes up hacking and slashing. If you like the color red, you’ll love “Terror Train.” - CATHY SAATHOFF son, a young man gifted vrttft extraordinary telekinetic pow ers, for nefarious purposes. 8:00 HBO “More American Graffiti" (1979) Ron Howard, Cindy Wil liams.
