The telethon raised $8,703, KAMU Development and Promotion Coordinator Penny Hyden said. Hyden said KAMU’s goal was $1,000 per night and the goal was surpassed. “This was one of three times a year that we interrupt programming to ask for contributions,” Hyden said. She said that the fund-raising prog rams are done in March, August, and December. All the proceeds of “Festival ’80” will be used to buy programs for the next season. Hyden said the prog ramming costs for the 1980-81 season were $95,000, of which approximate ly $45,000 was raised from the com munity. KAMU, the local Public Broad casting Station (PBS), is funded part ly by Texas A&M University. The remainder of the operating funds comes from individual contributions and grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. What is a Schmaltz’s Sandwich? BRUST Battalion Reporter A refrigerator, two carpets and one box of personal belongings are missing from the Quonset Hut where they were stored for the summer. The items were reported missing beginning on Aug. 27, the first day students could claim their belongings. University Police began an investigation Wednesday, Dena Todd, coordinator for special services for the Department of Student Affairs, said. There is no evidence of break-in, and there are no leads in the case, she said. Todd said she filed a complete report of the missing items with University Police Tuesday. At the time of the storage in May, each student completed a form describing his possessions. The form says all items stored in a quonset hut are done at the student’s own risk. However, reasonable security measures are taken, Todd said. “Prior to storage all windows are bolted, and the doors are locked,” she said, “and all items are stored in one hut.” The Department of Student Affairs provided storage in a quonset hut located on FM 60 for a fee of $3 to $10, depending on the items. Summer storage at the quonset huts has been available for the last three years as a convenience to students when commercial storage facilities were filled. John White, Corps assistant area coordinator who worked with the storage project last year, said several items were missing last year, and there had been evidence of a break-in. With the police report on file, students can file claims on their parents’ homeowner policies if they cover students’ possessions. White said. 1980 Beer Brewed by Miller Brewing Co., Milwaukee, Wis.
