6512) This time it’s that adolescent publication’s answer to
“Animal House.” Rated R.
THE ROSE (Manor East and Rudder Theater) Bette Midler plays a
rock star in a film loosely based on Janice Joplin’s life. Midnight,
rated R.
THE SEDUCTION OF JOE TYNAN (Rudder Theater) M*A*S*H’s
Alan Alda stars as an honest politician who becomes obsessed
with power. 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. Rated R.
TIME AFTER TIME (Rudder Theater). Malcolm MacDowell is H.G.
Wells who enters modern-day San Francisco to chase Jack the
Ripper. Thursday only. 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. Rated PG.
WIZARDS (Plitt Cinema l&ll) Powerful animated film about mystical
creatures battling in far-away lands. Midnight, rated PG.
Live Entertainment:
BACKSTAGE: The Texas Actors’ Theater will perform "The Line” at
8:30 and 10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday. Cover is $2.50.
GRINS BEER GARDEN: The Texas Rail Band will appear Friday;
the cover will be $1.50. Saturday the cover will also be $1.50, with
music provided by The King’s English String Band.
LAKEVIEW: Thursday Dennis Ivey and the Waymen will perform,
with a $1.00 cover charge for women and $3.00 for men. Saturday
night it will be Buddy Wilson and the Jubilies, with a cover of
$1.50.
ROSEWOOD JUNCTION: Elmo and Pattsy will perform Thursday
through Saturday. There is no cover Thursday night, and $1.00
cover both Friday and Saturday.
THE TEXAS HALL OF FAME: The Debonairs will perform Thursday
night from 8 p.m. till midnight, cover is $2.00. Friday Dennis Ivey
and the Waymen will perform from 9 p.m. till 1 a.m., with a $2.00
cover. Saturday the band will be Jerry Nell and the Armadillo
Express, performing from 9 p.m. till 1 a.m. Cover will be $3.00.
TJ’s WHISKEY BAR: Stardust will perform Thursday through Satur
day, with a $3.00 cover.
FOR THE GOOD TIMES: music by Brian Collins Thursday through
