VP STEAKS OF U.S.A. 8006 Research Blvd. Austin, TX 78758 512-453-1734 J Society uses imagination to explore reincarnation by CINDY GEE Battalion Reporter I entered the room ready to hear a talk about rein carnation, and instead found myself in the dark, con centrating on my left big toe. When I walked into the room, a young man wel comed me to the Metaphysical Society meeting. He said the organization tries to promote an understand ing of life beyond scientific principles, and the speaker tonight — that was April 17 — would be Ray Cullen, a computer systems engineer for the Texas A&M Uni versity Chemistry Department. The lights were turned out and the door locked. Cullen then instructed us to put our feet on the floor, our hands in our laps, close our eyes and put all of our problems aside. Cullen told the group to focus on breathing. “There is nothing to think about now except brea thing in and out,” be said. “Focus your attention on your left big toe as if it were the only thing in the world. Don’t wiggle it; just give it your foil attention. Use your will to relax it. ” He told the class to relax certain parts of their bodies, everything from the left and right nostril to the flesh against the bone. After relaxing some parts of my body that I didn’t even know existed, I was told to let the chair do the work; to let myself drift into the hands of the cosmic and drift on the currents of life. Cullen turned on some classical music and I was relieved his lesson in anatomy was over. Then Cullen told us to imagine we were birds flying upward into the sky toward the sun. “You can feel the sun warming your back, feathers and beak,” he said. “It feels good to be so free. Follow your intuition to guide you in the right direction. As you fly, you are going back in time. Back to an impor tant time in a previous incarnation. Soon you will begin to descend. When you land you will assume the personality you had in a past incarnation.” I felt like I should try to get into this, so I pretended I was a girl living in Salem, Mass., during the days of the witch trials. I enjoyed using my imagination and pretending to be someone else, but then again, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for me to find myself doing this during algebra class. Some people believe these experiences are fantasy, Cullen said, and others believe they are reliving an actual experience from another lifetime. “I had one experience,” he said, “in the Roman Colosseum. “I was one of the noble types saying whether the guys would live or die. I remember saying the guy was going to die and I enjoyed the feeling. It was very disturbing.” ryan.» Hwy.« 1 aciel , ga# Habitech STOREWIDE SALE 1D%- 90 7E ® IS ® SAT., APRIL 26 thru SAT., MAY 10 Harvey Rd.
