LOS ANGELES — Gasoline
prices are rising at a slower pace than
before the 1979 oil shortage because
of a record gasoline surplus and drop
in demand, industry analyst Dan
Lundberg said.
Prices increased by 0.4 of a cent
per gallon between March 21 and
April 11, compared with 1 cent per
gallon a week during the preceding
year, Lundberg said.
Retailers in some areas of the
country, he said, are beginning to
make price cuts attempting to sell all
their gasoline for fear of having their
allocations reduced in the future.
Demand for gasoline was down 8.6
percent in the first quarter of 1980
from a year ago, Lundberg said.
As a result, he said, gasoline stocks
in the United States grew to a record
high, despite a reduction in refinery
operations to 77.8 percent.

SAN JUAN, Texas — More than
100,000 Roman Catholics traveled to
this Rio Grande Valley community
for the dedication of a shrine to the
Virgin Mary, which includes a statue
thought to have miraculous powers.
The $5 million shrine, built almost
entirely from small contributions,
was built to replace one damaged 10
years ago in an airplane crash.
At the center of the new La Virgen
de San Juan shrine is a small, doll-
like statue of the Virgin Mary that

engineering analysis and
system design.
Today, E-Systems

Fourier’s mathematical

some of the world’s tough

via computer-designed

E-Systems designs
