Families say letters not enough
United Press International
Some families of the 50 Americans
held hostage in the U.S. Embassy in
Iran say they are grateful for mes
sages delivered by the Red Cross,
but “no amount of mail or messages”
can erase the anger that their loved
ones are captives.
Representatives of the Interna

Monday and began contacting the
hostages’ families Tuesday. The
State Department said evidence col

Timms said they have not heard from
Hermening since a letter in January,
in which, they said, he sounded trou

But some of the hostages’ families
said they were just happy to receive
any word at all.
