Wednesday, April 30, Linda Ronstadt will per
form. Accompanying her on vocals will be Wen
dy Waldman, with Billy Payne, formerly of Little
Feat, on keyboards. Danny Kortchmar, a guitar
player from the West Coast, will open the show.
SportsFest: The 1980 Austin SportsFest, the
annual spring sports festival, will feature as
second weekend attractions Southwest Senior
Swimming Championships, WalkFest, South
ern National Flying Disc Championships, Celeb
rity Allstar Canoe Race, the first annual Sport
sFest Hall of Honor and many other events,
Friday, March 28, starts it off with the swimming
championships at the University of Texas Olym
pic Swim Center, and the Morris Williams Inter
collegiate Golf Tournament. Saturday, March
29, will be the WalkFest and the Southern Na

Magna Carta: The Magna Carta, a centuries-old
British charter, will be on exhibit at the LBJ Lib
rary and Museum in Austin for one week, March
29-April 5. The exhibit begins with public wel
coming ceremonies at 9 a.m. Saturday, March
29, on the plaza of the LBJ Library. In pageantry
featuring members of the UT Longhorn Band
and the university color guards, the Dean of
Lincoln Cathedral, the Very Rev., the Hon. Oliv
er Fiennes, will present the document. No flash
or other artificial light will be allowed.
Dallas-Fort Worth
PDQ Bach: PDQ Bach will appear Saturday,
March 29, at the Convention Center Theater,
1111 Houston, in Fort Worth. Performance
starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5-$12.
Houston
Festival: Beginning Thursday, March 20, the
Houston Festival will present a cultural feast of
crafts, entertainment, international food and a
variety of unique exhibits and demonstrations. It
will begin with the Mayor’s International Ball, on
Thursday, March 20, and will end with the Hous
ton Festival Baghdad on the Bayou Tardi Mardi
Gras Street Bash and Contained Riot on Satur
day, March 29, The Ball will be at the Hyatt
Regency, and the Bash will be at 1200 Louisiana

Elsewhere
Amarillo: The Texas CowBelles are sponsoring
the third annual Texas Beef Cook-off which will
be held in Amarillo on April 17, during the Texas
Beef Conference. The winner of the Cookoff will
go on to participate in the National Beef Cook-off
to be held in Scottsdale, Ariz. The site of the
CowBelle cook-off will be the Texas A&M Re
search and Extension Center, 6500 Amarillo

San Angelo: The Third Annual Original Lamblast
will be held April 19 at the San Angelo Fair
grounds. Events will include the traditional
Working Sheep Dog Trials, Leg of Lamb (men’s
legs), Lamb Chop (women’s legs), washer pitch
ing, horseshoe pitching, blindman wheelbarrow
race and wool sack tossing.
Marlin: Marlin Festival Days will be April 19 and 20
in the Marlin City Park. An arts and crafts Big
Tent with artisans, both local and out-of-state,
will be open to the public. Dancing to live bands,
a variety of food, and rides and games will be
available. Admission $2 for adults, $1 for chil
dren.
Magnolia: The Texas Renaissance Festival for the
1980 sixth season is holding auditions for Royal
Countenances: Kings, Queens, and other
assorted royalty; and other nonroyalty such as
grave robbers, beggars, witches, dwarfs, belly
dancers, giants and many others. On April 12
and 13,26 and 27 open auditions will be held at
the Festival site, 45 miles north of Houston, near
