Reputed mob
boss buried
United Press International
PHILADELPHIA — More than
3,000 people, including hundreds of
curiosity-seekers, streamed past the
casket of Angelo Bruno to view the
slain body of the alleged Philadel
phia mob kingpin.
Bruno, 69, was buried Wednesday
following a private funeral and
Catholic Mass of Christian Burial in a
church in South Philadelphia near
where he was gunned down in a car,
gangland-style, last Friday night.
Flowers lined the huge parlor —
crowded with about 500 people —
where Bruno’s body lay in a closed
bronze casket. The name of Phillip
“Chicken Man” Testa, a reputed
Bruno lieutenant, was one of the
names on the bouquets.
Among the mourners was Joseph
Stanfa, 39, driver of the car in which
Bruno was killed in front of his home.
Also attending were Frank Narduc-
ci, a reputed member of Bruno s
organization, and Frank Sheeran, a
Delaware Teamsters local boss.
Mourners, including teen-agers
wearing blue jeans and sneakers and
women attired in full-length mink
coats, lined up and waited for up to
20 minutes in a slow procession to
the casket.
A veteran police undercover agent
has confirmed information from a
UPI underworld source that a New
York City mob hit-team, under in
vestigation for 18 gangland murders,
accepted the $250,000 murder con
tract on Bruno.
