manifold vacuum guage can be a help
in conserving gasoline in cars,
according to Popular Mechanics
magazine.
“The gauge, mounted on the dash,
allows you to determine when the
engine is operating at its greatest
efficiency,” the article in the March
issue of the magazine says. “When
manifold vacuum is high, fuel con
sumption is lowest. Conversely,
when manifold vacuum is low, as it is
during rapid acceleration, fuel con
sumption is the highest.”
