The low response, said Aguirre, is
due to the many ways students iden
tify themselves. Some students with
Spanish surnames are either foreign
students or Americans of Mexican-
American descent who do not con-
sider themselves Mexican-
Americans.
Most of the students reporting dis
crimination said they had not been
discriminated against on the Texas
