DECEMBER 17. 1979 Iranian students vow not to protest illegally United Press International SAN ANTONIO — The Iranian Muslim Organization, described as a loosely organized group of about 200 Iranian students, has vowed not to demonstrate against Shah Moham med Reza Pahlavi until it can do so legally. But leaders of the group, based at San Antonio College, say they can not stop individuals from protesting the shah’s presence at Lackland Air Force Base. Louis Linden, attorney for the Ira nians, said he planned to file suit Thursday to overturn City Manager Tom Huebner’s denial of a permit to allow the Iranians to stage a protest at Lackland and a parade to the Ala mo. Linden said Wednesday he was trying to decide whether to file the suit in state or federal court. “We are trying to get legal permis sion for protesting,” organization spokesman Mohammed Kamiab, 27, a student at San Antonio College, said Wednesday. ^liMSC AGGIE ClNEMMmMWfo. “We have to send the shah back to Iran. Students over here have a re sponsibility. We have to do some thing to show the American people we are with the Iranian people. We are trying not to break any law of the United States. There is no way the Muslim Organization is going to put on an illegal demonstration. But as for individuals, I don’t know. ” Rezh Sharif, another student lead er said, "You cannot control emo tion. If (President) Carter tomorrow says he’s going to grant permanent residency to the shah, I can’t say what will happen.” “Send this criminal back to Iran and end the crisis, ” was the message the student leaders repeated numer ous times during a news conference Wednesday in the front room of an old house near downtown. The room was decorated with five pictures of the Ayatollah Khomeini and a poster depicting martyrs of the revolution that put Khomeini into power. They called for support from the American people to deport the shah to Iran to face charges he killed thousands of people and robbed the country’s wealth. Asked if the taking of 50 hostages did not hamper their call for support from Americans, Kamiab replied: “That’s a different story. You left them no (other) way. You are in a mess that you have created over 37 years.” Concerning Huebner’s concern that an Iranian protest might end in violence because the Ku Klux Klan requested permission to counter- demonstrate, Kamiab said: “I do not personally believe they’re going to kill us. I’m sure there are (Iranian) students here who do not care what happens to them. “Every Iranian student here can guarantee if you return the shah, you can have your hostages and we assure a fair trial for the shah,” said Sharif. “I wonder if the American people want him here and want to share in what he did. It should be a disgrace for the American people to allow a criminal and a murderer in the United States.” “Is there a criminal worth more than 30 million people?” one Iranian student asked Here’s a motion picture you can stick your sense of humor in* The comedy that the world relief* Starring CHEVY CHASE • PHIL PROCTOR • RICK HURST • LARRAINE NEWMAN • HOWARD HESSEMAN ROGER BOWEN as Henry Kissinger Music by LAMBERT & POTTER • Written by MICHAEL MISLOVE and NEIL ISRAEL Executive Producer: WOODPECKER MUSIC.
