car championship race with 1,640
points to Wallace s 1,490, but the

Wallace is a certainty to be voted
rookie-of-the-year, and a victory

“I’m honored to run with Foyt,”
Wallace said, “but I’ll be out to beat
him. He knows my car is capable of

Specifically, Wallace said, “My
car (a Firebird) is more aerodyna-
mically sound than his Z-28.”
Wallace figured he would be lead
ing Foyt now in points had it not
been for a protest lodged against him
at Milwaukee’s Fair Stock 150. Foyt
said Wallace pulled in front of him as

Although the race is a US AC-
sponsored event, several NASCAR
competitiors including Bobby Alli
