Page 4 THE BATTALION TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1979 The Battalion Ford wins mock poll over contenders Classifieds Non-candidate Gerald Ford was the only one of four national figures to beat President Jimmy Carter in a poll conducted by a Texas A&M University political science class. Coming up short were Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., California Gov. Jerry Brown and former California Gov. Ronald Reagan. Missing from the list of possible presidential con tenders were former Texas Gov. John Connally and Texan George Bush. The students polled 200 house holds in the Bryan-College Station area. Brown, Kennedy, Reagan and Ford were pitted against Carter. Ford fared better than the presi dent, 68 percent to 32 percent. The ratings are better than ex pected for the president, but are dif ficult to compare with national re sults because of polling methods.
