Men on swinging trapezes would
look amateur, white rabbits silly
xt to the grace and mystique of
the Chinese Acrobats and Magicians
of Taiwan.
I The company of 75 kept the Rud
der Auditorimm crowd of about
1,500 sitting on the last thread in
the edge of their seats.
One performer balanced on one
nd on top of six chairs stacked on
ttles, others leaped through four

anced on top of his head.
The act that created the most ten-
ion in the audience occurred when

i jMe rings of knives and fire
^blindfolded. He did a series of
■jmersaults before he leaped

m One magician “picked up” a large
jar by merely putting his hands
I along one side, never seeming to
touch it.
K A participant from the audience,
Mark Thurman, was asked to try to
E t the jar in the same manner.
Thurman, who tried and could

The jar was heavy, glazed and
nooth.
To sum it up, he said “there were
o tricks about it.” Or were there?
The Tuesday night performance,

Three acrobats challenged the law of gravity
in a show at Texas A&M performers Tuesday
night. The group, the Chinese Acrobats and
Magicians of Taiwan, was sponsored by MSC
Opera and Performing Arts Society. It played
to a crowd of about 1,500 in Rudder Au
