Linda McCown, a senior in indus-

of the Human Factors Society.
nA II V f° rrna l presentation was
LI/AIL I .made by Dr. Newton C. Ellis, in

and a Fellow in the Human
factors Society.
A plaque recognizing achieve-

ildustrial engineering office hall-

McCown’s paper, “The Effects of
?atigue on Hand Steadiness,” rep-
esents a practical investigation of
heory proposed by B. M. Lance
md D. B. Chaffin in 1971.
McCown conducted an experi-
nent involving a test of hand stead-

onditions.
The incompatibility of muscular
ixertion and fine muscular control
vas shown by more errors in the
land steadiness test when the mus-
:les were tired.
A short rest period was shown to
>e enough to restore performance
