to be elected Oct. 24

A special student election will be
held Oct. 24 for the Class of’83 offi
cers and senators.
Persons interested in running
may file beginning Wednesday at
the Student Government Office
from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Room
216 of the Memorial Student Cen
ter. The deadline is Oct. 10.
The filing fee is $1. After filing the
student’s name will appear on the

election roster. Campaigning will
begin after Oct. 10.
Officers positions include presi
dent, vice-president, secre
tary/treasurer and social secretary.
Freshmen who want to run for an
office must have at least a 2.25 grade
point ratio at mid-term.
The class officers will be in charge
of the freshman ball, class picnics
and council meetings.
Seven freshmen senator positions
are also open. Senators must have a
2.25 GPR by the end of the semes
ter. If this requirement is not met,

Texas A&M University’s Dairy
Cattle Judging Team will leave
today on its long drive the national
competition in Madison, Wis.
The three-member team of
Janette Beverly, William Ernstes
and Chip Turner will compete
against about 50 other teams on
Wednesday.
Each member will judge five dif
ferent breeds of dairy cows that
have been separated into 10 four-
cow classes, Beverly said. Up to five
sets of reasons may be submitted by
the members, giving them a chance
to raise their scores by justifying
their placing order of the cattle.

strike.
The 29 striking models agreed to
go back to work after the administra-r
