MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s Navy
Ministry says it will let the U.S.
Coast Guard clean up oil slicks
spewed by a blown-out well in Mex
ican waters if they they come within
60 miles of Texas.
In a press release issued late
Tuesday, the Navy Ministry said
that until the Gulf of Mexico oil
slicks drift that far northward, only
Mexican authorities will carry out
any necessary cleanup operations.
It said that a request by the U.S.
Embassy to let the U.S. Coast
Guard clean up slicks in Mexican
waters within 60 miles of Texas was
approved.
