After starting play in Missouri and ending in Oklahoma, the Texas A&M Universtiy women’s softball team managed a third place finish in the Southwest Missouri Tourna ment last weekend. In the tourna ment, which was moved to Norman due to bad weather in Springfield, the Aggies downed UT-Arlington 8-3, lost to Minnesota 8-7, defeated Kansas State 4-2 and stopped Northwest Missouri 2-1. In the fi nals, the Aggies lost to Oklahoma 3-0. The Aggie Ladies are now 16-9 this spring and face Sam Houston State today in a double-header at Travis Park in Bryan. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The Texas A&M women’s track team will be out of town this weekend, visiting Dallas for the Metroplex Track Meet. SMU hosts the event which includes UT- Arlington and Baylor along with the Aggies. The field events begin at 1 p.m. Saturday with the running events scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The quadrangle meet is a warm-up for the Aggies before they travel to Lawrence and the Kansas Relays. The Aggies have already qualified 10 members for the national meet and Coach David Williams predicts more will qualify. “A lot of our runners and athletes just beginning to peak,’ In warming up for its April 21 showdown with Texas Tech, the Texas Aggie lacrosse team downed the University of Houston 11-0 and LSU 18-0 Saturday. The two victories ran A&M’s record to 7-0 in conference play and 7-5 on the year. The Fiesa Tournament, April 21-22 in San Antonio, will match A&M and Tech in a battle of the unbeatens to decide this year’s con ference champion. In the extra period, the Aggies scored first to win the match.
