Ness monster — known as “Nessie”
— and the BBC concluded, “All we
can say for sure is that the mystery
of the monster is far from solved.”
The sighting was made Monday
while a photographer, his wife and a
BBC reporter drove along the shore
of Loch Ness on another assign
ment.
The photographer noticed the ob
ject’s V-shaped wash about 1 mile
south of the ruins of Urquhart Cas
tle and in the area of reported — but
not substantiated — past sightings
of the monster.
The film showed a small speck
about the size of a football zigzag
ging back and forth on the surface
for about 10 minutes.
After an electronic expedition
that showed possible signs of large
unidentified bodies moving through
the 900-foot depths, Dr. Bobert
Bines of the Boston-based Academy
of Applied Science last month an
nounced plans to use porpoises with
cameras strapped to their backs to
locate them.
At least 4,000 sightings of the
“monster,” resembling a giant
horned sea serpent, have been re
ported since the 1930s.
