Mexican oil
will be higher
than OPEC’s

MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s
crude oil price increase will be
“slightly higher” than the 9 percent
boost adopted by the Organization
of Petroleum Exporting Countries,
the head of the Mexican oil agency
said late Wednesday.
Petroleos Mexicanos Director
General Jorge Diaz Serrano de
clined to pinpoint what the hike
would be, but said that Mexican
crude for the April-June period will
be sold at more than $15.36 per bar
rel. He said the new increase will be
announced Sunday.
Mexican crude petroleum at dock
for the first quarter of 1979 was sold
for $14.10 per barrel, about 50 cents
above OPEC prices.
