That goal, which once seemed unattainable, is coming into view for the 1979 graduating class at Texas A&M University with its approach ing induction into the Association of Former Students, April 16 and 17. The ceremony will be at a ban quet at Ramada Inn with Richard “Buck” Weirus, executive director for the Association of Former Stu dents, presiding. Class agents will be elected and the class’ induction into the association by Robert Smith III, president of the association. The banquet is for all May and summer graduates, said Olive De- lucia, class programs director of the association. A separate banquet will be held for December graduates. Students with a preference for at tending either Monday or Tuesday night may sign up in the former stu dents office. Those graduating seniors in terested in running for a class agent position need to sign up in the former student office by Thursday, Delucia said. Two meetings are held each year by the board for the Association of Former Students of which all class agents are members . The term of an agent is five years, but he or she can be re-elected any number of times. Pat Morly, administration assis tant to the executive director for the association, said that in recent years, the graduating classes have been so large, that two people are elected as co-class agents instead of one. Usually students run ingtn of two as a team. Candidates collect signatj from their classmates and meet* Weirus and Delucia for an inii view. At the banquet, the will elect their agents. D graduates may vote in the fou student association office. Delucia said, “The only qual| tion is the willingness to serve, sponsibilities as class agent indu organizing class reunions j providing class news to fori classmates with help from former student office.” In earlier graduating classes, class president automaticallyl came the class agent upon gradi tion, Delucia said. Some have remained active their class.
