The civil engineering major was presented the Engineering Senior Achievement Award at a faculty meeting. Dr. Richard Thomas, act ing dean of engineering, made the presentation. It was the second awarded to a woman student. Hawley’s name will be added to the list of winners of the award on a bronze plaque in the Zachry Engi neering Center. Made twice yearly, the awards go to recipients chosen by a faculty committee from departmental nominations. Scholarship, campus and technical activities, leadership arid financial responsibility are con sidered. Hawley completed her studies with a 3.43 grade point ratio and was graduated with honors Friday. Hawley was class treasurer this year, served on the Civil Engineer ing Advisory Committee and elected to “Who’s’Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universi ties.” She was a hostess for the 1975 Student Conference on National Af fairs, held several jobs, including SELL YOUR BOOKS at UNIVERSITY BOOKSTORE secretary and vice president, on the Student Y cabinet and worked in the highway safety program at the Texas Transportation Institute proving grounds.
