HOUSTON — Prosecutors expect
lay to complete their four-week
tsentation of evidence in which T.
Hen Davis was heard discussing
irder victims and payoffs with an
FBI informant.
ack Strickland and Telly Wilson,
prosecutors trying the millionaire
murder solicitation charges,
intain their evidence won’t be
akened by Davis’ defense team.
Sure the defense attorneys are
ng to call a lot of witnesses, but
one of them was present at either
he meetings at which the gun, the
nicer, the money and the photo-
phs of the purportedly dead
ge changed hands,” Strickland
1.
I don’t think there’s any question
it the high point in our evidence is
tapes, Wilson said.
The tapes were repeated 15 times
the jury as Davis, weary of the
cession of sights and sounds,
red at a notepad or whispered to
lawyers.
That videotape is like any other
ervation, Strickland said, “Ev-
time the jury sees it they notice a
le bit more.
[Informant David McCrory
itified Davis gave him $25,000 in
1 envelope from the trunk of Davis’
il when they met in a Fort Worth
irking lot Aug. 20. In the
deotapes the men stand with their
cks to the hidden camera making it
ifficult to see what McCrory re-
oves from the trunk.
But the soundtrack of the transac-
on made by a microphone under
McCrory s shirt indicates a crinkling
of paper. McCrory gave 250
hurtdred-dollar bills to the FBI when
he drove away from the meeting.
Defense lawyers claim there is a
brief period after the meeting when
no law enforcement officer had
McCrory under surveillance and he
therefore could have been given the
money by an accomplice.
Strickland said it was unlikely any
conspiracy to entrap Davis could
have depended upon someone slip-
ping money to a man who knew he
was being watched.
Lending credence to the prosecu
tion case, testimony of an executive
secretary from Davis corporation
said Davis telephoned her at home
about an hour before his arrest ask
ing for the combination to the office
safe. Another secretary testified she
placed a thick envelope in the safe for
Davis but discovered it was missing
after his arrest.

IIVING IN THE PAST
CAN BE WONDERFUL.
From a world of kings and kingdoms, in a
land where moss grows on all sides of the trees,
out of the eerie darkness of Medieval days,
emerges this brilliant epic saga of Parsival. Like
The Lord of The Rings and The Sword of Shan-
nara, it is a timeless legend.
