United Press International WASHINGTON — Elaborate of recordings made in Dallas lay President John F. Kennedy i| slain lead to the “possible con- 3 * i! P on that four shots were fired at e motorcade, a sound expert told Cliil 1 Igress today. That tentative finding runs ounter to the Warren Commission ■\0riieport on the Nov. 22, 1963, assas- nation. The commission said in frl the consensus of eyewitnesses the shooting was that three shots fe fired hy Lee Harvey Oswald. ... lonspiracy theorists have city ■.ged that four shots at the Uorcade would have been too many for one man to take in the al- loted time frame with the suspected murder weapon, a bolt action re peating rifle. The explanation about the four shots came from acoustics expert Dr. James E. Barger before the House Assassinations Committee hearing on the Kennedy murder. Graphs and tapes were used in the presentation of evidence and the accounts of 178 eyewitnesses were evaluated. The study, conducted by the firm of Bolt, Beranek and New man of Cambridge, Mass., repor tedly cost more than $60,000. At the end of an elaborate and ex tremely complicated analysis of the recording taken from an open police microphone, and compared with sound tests taken last month at Dealey Plaza, Barger was asked by a staff member: “Is it accurate to say there is evi dence of four shots?” “Yes,” the expert calmly replied, “it is a possible conclusion. ” Earlier, committee chairman Rep. Louis Stokes, D-Ohio, had warned that the results of acoustical and other tests presented today “will be troubling to some.” But he cautioned against too quickly draw ing “sensational conclusions from this evidence.” BUDGET & RE Cq tn over id fr ()nl istry 0 ® his it' 1 * ixon ^ ie frif not ii 1 ' nceM 5 pOStP* sen sel, would 11 Spo^ istpo'f 1 ctionW Open 10-7 Mon.- Sat. 315 Univ.
