he course concentrates on five
Has: reading, writing, vocabulary,
Hlling and mathematics. The first
thing the students do is hike a test to
ind out what their problems are.
■We diagnose the needs of the
Hdents and match up their weak-
Hses with individual programs,”
laid Baither. Most of the students
lye been referred by their adviser
Hheir dean.
Hfter the testing, each student is
Hised on what areas they need to
work. They spend approximately
eight weeks in lecture for one hour a
week. They also attend a two-hour
lab for the entire 12 weeks of the
semester. The lecture teaches stu
dents how to study for tests, how to
outline text material, how to take
notes, and how to develop effective
study techniques. The students also
set up study schedules.
Also included in the course is a
reading lab which helps those stu
dents who need to work on their
speed and comprehension.
“The problem with the course is
that every student has a slightly dif
ferent problem,” said Baither. It
takes quite a bit of responsibility
and motivation on the student’s
part. The students get as much out
of the course as they are willing to
put into it. After the students’ prob
lems are discussed they are only
given guidelines as to what they
need to do.
After the course is completed
some students are referred to the
writing lab, which is set up by the
English department or they may be
sent to the Math department for ad
ditional help.
During the fall semester the
course consists only of freshmen,
but in the spring and summer
semesters anyone may take the
course.
The Academic Counseling Center
offers various services to students.
The most well-known is a test given
to help students choose a major.
The center sets up consultations

Since I can remember.
I’ve had a weight prob
lem. I tried one diet after!
another. I’d lose a few|
pounds, get disgusted,
then naturally I’d gain that I
weight back, plus a few
extra pounds. I was be
ginning to think I’d never
lose weight and keep it|
off, until one day I saw a
Pat Walker ad where a
lady had lost 30 pounds. I
decided I d give it one
more try.
I called Pat Walker’s fori
my free figure analysis and!
I’ve never once been sor
ry. I began to lose pounds!
and inches immediately. I
lost 58 lbs. and 80”. I not
only look better, I feel
100% better thanks to the]
Pat Walker program.
