BUENA PARK, Calif. — The
exact distance — close to 300 feet
— may be disputed, but no one
argued that it was not a long way
to fall without a parachute.
Stuntman Dar Robinson broke
the free fall record by dropping,
without a parachute, from a hov
ering helicopter Saturday.
Robinson, 31, fell unhurt onto a
30-foot airbag in a field at Knotts
Berry Farm, an amusement
park.
Surveyors from the P. W. Cook
Co. set the distance of the fall at
precisely 286.1 feet. However,
Robinson said the surveyors had
made a mistake and the fall
should be listed as 311 feet.
Whichever it was, it beat the
old mark of 232 feet set by
stuntman A.J. Bakunas during
filming of the Burt Reynolds
movie “Hooper.
This was the third time Robin
son attempted the jump. The
other jumps were canceled be
cause of poor wind conditions.

Red worms
still linger
in glasses
BROUSSARD, Lit. — The fuzzy,
Ilf-inch red worms that poured
km water faucets for several days
Bparently have been wiped out by
■ overdose of chlorine, but the
■udders linger on for those who
( Tand them in water glasses.
Ijerry Grooms, a consulting engi-
Her for the Lafayette Parish com
munity of 3,000, said the state
pealth department assured resi-
Hnts that while the worms might
bt unsightly, they posed no health
, ffoblem.
,ms ’ j ^“Hopefully, we’ve got the prob-
1 My I kni resolved,’ Grdoms said Sun-
. To cel day. “Today, I didn 't see any when I
t the 14 checked on it.”
thfij $ Grooms said complaints began
«t Ya t Friday morning. Health officers
re good4 were called immediately and diag-
willsagjbsed the problem as larvae that
10th m had gotten through filters and into
the water system.
■ A heavy dose of chlorine was
-v'gPfed to t ^ le water system Friday
fa jnorning and another was applied
owndt- Friday afternoon when it became
;manfWjpgj-gnt the first was not com-
‘fpletely effective. Grooms said,
odifi f{ e sa j c l the regular chlorine dose
h® lipparently failed to kill the larvae.
motherH Some residents had complained
,|. J" if the worms were clogging screens in
tarringlwater taps. Others showed re
porters glasses of water with worms
them.
Grooms said such problems occur
casionally during the fall, when
most standing water outdoors has
dried up and mosquitoes and other
insects are seeking places to lay
their eggs.

Since I can remember.
I’ve had a weight prob
lem. I tried one diet after j
another. I’d lose a fewl
pounds, get disgusted,
then naturally I’d gain that I
weight back, plus a few!
extra pounds. I was be
ginning to think I’d never I
lose weight and keep it|
off, until one day I saw a
Pat Walker ad where a
lady had lost 30 pounds. I
decided I’d give it one
more try.
I called Pat Walker’s fori
my free figure analysis andl
I’ve never once been sor
ry. I began to lose pounds!
and inches immediately. I
lost 58 lbs. and 80”. I not
only look better, I feel
100% better thanks to thef
Pat Walker program.
