Battalion photo by Pat O'MaOe; Apartment unit collapses, injures sheetrock workers HOUSTON — An unfinished two-story apartment unit collapsed Monday, injuring four workers, none seriously, a fire department ambulance spokesman said. “They were four sheetrock work ers. None were in critical condition hut they were taken to the hospi tal,” the spokesman said. “It took quite a while working in there, cut ting holes, just to he sure we didn’t have any more people.’ He said that at 10:45 a.m. the unit, a “six or eight apartment por tion of a complex outside the city limits at Imperial Valley and Semi nar across from Greenspoint Mall, “collapsed completely.” Officials at Citizens General Hos pital and Houston Medical Center Northwest listed the men in stable condition and said there was at least one possible back injury and a bro ken leg. Names were not im mediately available. “Some of the workmen said they had advised the contractor that it was about three or four inches out of plumb and was going to fall down and sure enough it did,’’ said Fire Capt. W.R. Johnson. He said the prime contractor was Ginther-Davis Construction Co.
