Students and teachers alike are in
demand at the MSG craft shop.
Registration for nine more crafts
courses has started and two of the
courses have already filled up.
The craft shop staff is also looking
for teachers for 27 other courses to
be offered in the fall.
Most of the new summer courses
start next week. Participants must
register at least one day before the
first class session.
The new classes are making inac-
rame pot slings; basket-making;
needlepoint; crochet; macrarne; an
tique refinishing, and pottery. The
classes in lathe and silkscreen are al
ready full.
One hundred and thirty-three
people have participated in the
courses offered so far this summer.
"Things seem to be going pretty
well,” said Karen Zantow, assistant
program coordinator for the craft
shop. “Everyone seems pretty
happy,” she said.
The craft shop offered 23 classes
at the beginning of the first summer
session. Of those, nine were cancel
led because not enough people
enrolled. Six more courses finished
this week.
The craft shop is located
downstairs in the northeast comer
of the MSC. A variety of hand and
power tools can be used upon pres
entation of a student ID cara. To
use some wood-working tools stu
dents must first pass a written and
practical test.
Any student, faculty, and staff
member of Texas A6tM may enroll
in the craft shop courses. Most
courses have a small lab fee. Stu
dents must provide their own mate
rials, but the craft shop will supply
all tools.
