Adkisson spoke to an audience of more than 1,000 at the biennial con ference of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. “The work we do is just as impor tant,” he later said, referring to the fact that scientists in other colleges are generally paid more than in the college of agriculture. The situation isn’t unique to A&M. Adkisson pointed out that ag riculture is one of the lowest paid faculties in the country.
