Following the Border Olympics, the team will compete in the Fresno State Classic Mar. 17-18 in Fresno, Calif. The women’s golf team, following a sixth place finish in its own tour ney last week, will compete in the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin Mar. 17-18. The Texas A&M women’s tennis team defeated North Texas 6-0 last Saturday to bring its dual meet rec ord to 2-5 for the season. Winning matches for A&M were Kathleen Sissom, Debbie Odum, Mary Guerra and Susan Schilling in sing les, Sissom and Alexis Hefley, Betty Shillcutt and Judy Willard in dou bles. The women’s team hosts Rice Wednesday and Lamar on Mar. 14. The Texas A&M women’s track team will compete in the. Port Lavaca Relays Friday and Saturday without star performer Linda Cor nelius. Cornelius will be competing for the USA team against Canada in a pentathlon meet at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs Saturday. The team’s scheduled meet last weekend in Fort Worth was cancel led due to bad weather. The Texas A&M women’s basket ball team closed out its 1977-78 sea son by winning tw o and losing two at the TAIAW, state tournament in San Angelo last weekend. The Aggie Ladies finished with a 19-18 record in Coach Wanda Bender’s first year. A&M lost to Texas in the first round, 84-56, then beat Trinity, 79-37, and Lamar, 69-63 in over time, before losing to Houston, 74-68. With the top seven scorers re turning next year, the Aggie Ladies should be improved. The only seniors are guards Karen Muskiet and Denise Bettis. The top two scorers were sophomores Pat Werner and Von Bunn with soph Susan Kimbro as the leading re bounder. Other top returnees are juniors Sheree Christian, Margaret Byrne, Cindy Gough and Jo Troell along with freshman Julia Craw ford.
