Golfers finish ninth at Pan Am THE BATTALION Page 9 THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 1978 By KEVIN PYLE The A & M golf team, led by Dave Ogrin, finished ninth in a classy field of 25 in the Pan American In tercollegiate in Monterrey, Mex. Ogrin, a sophomore from Wauke gan, Ill., finished in sixth place with a one over par 217 total for the three rounds played at the Campestre Country club. He was seven shots behind winner David Edwards of Oklahoma State who had a 210 total. Brigham Young University won the team title with an 863 followed (s|et | by Oklahoma State at 874 and Oral Roberts at 897. The University of Houston led all Southwest conference teams and Jso finished fourth with a score of 900 for the 45 holes of petition. &M was second among the confer ence teams. Aside from the good play of Og rin, an honorable mention all- America last year, the rest of the Aggie team didn’t have a good tour nament. if Petal Patch fr-'"Your Complete Florist" Is. ‘Inj “It was not a good tournament for us, ” Aggie golf coach Boh Ellis said. “We have to concentrate better and get mentally tough,” Individually for the Aggies, Ogrin led all scorers with rounds of 75- 71-71 for a 217. Biff Alexander and Tim Carlton were next for the Ags as they matched 230 totals. Alexander combined rounds of 77-76-77 while Carlton carded scorers of 76-80-74. Jay Kent had a 232 total based on rounds of 74-81-77. Richard Crom well had a 237, hut it didn’t figure into the team score as only the low four scores counted.
