Hold the man down, fellows . . .
If you attend the A&M vs. Texas
Tech basketball game on February
11, you are in for an added attrac
tion. Before the game the Aggie
wrestling team will meet Tech’s
team on G. Rollie White Col
iseum’s main floor.
A&M s team has beaten every
Texas team they have met this sea
son. This includes TCU, SWTSU,
Richland Community College, and
Adams State College from Col
orado. They have wrestled in four
tournaments. This past weekend
the A team wrestled in the South
west Missouri Invitational Tour
nament and the B team traveled to
the Texas Tech Invitational Tour
nament.
The club, which is working to
wards NCAA recognition, wrestles
one match a week throughout its
season, from November through
March. The state championships
will be March 3-4 here at Aggie-
land in DeWare Fieldhouse. Spec
tators are welcome to all matches
and tournaments.
The team is comprised of two
ten-men strings. Positions on the
strings are determined by
wrestle-offs between all partici
pants in each weight division.
There are ten weight divisions,
from 118 lbs. through heavy
weight which is over 190 lbs.
There is no separate women’s divi
sion, so girls may compete for
places in their weight division on
the men’s team.
The club wrestles collegiately
from November through March
and enters individuals into open
free style tournaments during the
spring. The team is mostly
freshmen, but new members are
always welcome to join. The team
practices from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday in room
260 of G. Rollie White Coliseum.
It s a grueling strength and
endurance contest, but it’s a great
way to keep in shape.
On Your
Mark
Horseshoes and flickerball have
started play for the season. Be sure
to keep up with your schedules
and notify your teams. Also, hand
ball doubles will start play today,

Stars n Hearts ’n Volleyball
Be unique this Valentine’s. Take
your sweetheart to the All-Star
game; the Fourth Annual/Aggie
Valentine’s Day Volleyball Tour
nament will be held at DeWare
Fieldhouse February 10 and 11.
At 7:30 p.m., February 10, an all-
star match featuring the best
players throughout Texas will be
played. John Kelly, a freshman on
A&M’s team, who has three years
experience playing for the Air
Force, will represent the Ags.
February 11 will be a full day of
tournaments, that will include
teams from Dallas, San Antonio,
Austin, Arlington, and Houston.
Men’s volleyball at A&M exists
as a sports club which competes
intercollegiately during the fall
and as a USVBA (United States
Volleyball Association) team dur
ing the spring. USVBA is the qual
ifying organization for the Olympic
volleyball teams. At the present
time, the volleyball club is trying
to establish a varsity men’s vol
leyball team to play NCAA
leagues.
In the spring the club has a wo
men’s division, also playing
USVBA games. The Aggies are
still trying to build their team and
are neither consistent winners nor
losers. However, they hope to be
invited to the National Cham
pionships being held in El Paso
this May.
As volleyball is an all-year sport,
the club is always recruiting new
members. For more information,
contact John Kelly at the IM Office
or Noel Orr at PE.

and Games
Have you ever sat around wish
ing you could play intrarnurals
without all the competitiveness
and aggression? Well, now you
can. The IM Office is sponsoring a
just-for-fun, casual, recreational
league in slow pitch softball. There
will be men’s, women’s, and
co-rec divisions.
Officials, points, playoffs, and
awards are out. There won t be
any. It will just be you, your
friends, a team of fellow Ags, and
all the fun you can generate. Two
forfeits will drop your team from
the league.
Who cares if you can’t bat a ball
or field a pop fly? Nobody in this
league. It’s a great opportunity to
get out of that stuffy room filled
with books. Come out into the
outdoors, fill your lungs with fresh
air, and tire your muscles with
some good exercise. It’ll make
your brain work better.
Moses Hall squared off with Mexico during last week’s soccer playoffs. Shown here is some
