The Texas Aggie basketball team
is like the little boy with the curl.
When they are good, they are very,
very good. And when they are bad,
.they are horrid.

“I think we need to place a little
curl in the middle of our foreheads, ”
coach Shelby Metcalf said. “I was
pleased with the last 16 minutes. It
was the first 24 that was so bad. ”
In the first half the Ags shot a
miserable 25 percent from the field.
It picked up a bit in the second half.
A&M was able to connect upon 47
percent of its shots.
“It’s consistency that we are lack
ing,” Metcalf said. “Sometimes we
play really well, and sometimes we
play really bad. We shot poorly in
the first half because we didn’t move
the ball.
“Some of the guys on the team
have this ‘cool’ attitude about them.
We’re going to have to get rid of
that. I think from now on the guys
who want to hustle and give 100 per
cent are the ones who are going to
be in the line-up. You’re not going
to see us play another game like the
one today.”
A&M can’t afford to play another
game like the one against Tech. To
night the Aggies host the unde
feated Longhorns. Nothing could
please Texas more than if the Ags
continue to play like they are play
ing.

“We’re going to get a good ball
game out of these guys,” Metcalf
said. “Against Texas we ll have to
make our own luck and not wait for
lady luck to find us. I know one
thing our guys are going to discover
quickly and that’s that Texas can
shoot the ball.”
The trio who can shoot the ball
are Jim Krivacs, John Moore and
Ron Baxter. Krivacs is the second
leading scorer in the conference av
eraging 21 points a game. Baxter is
averaging 18.5 points a game, while
Moore is averaging 14.
“They are a guard oriented of
fense,” Metcalf said. “All of those
guys can shoot well from the out
