Department is seeking congres
sional approval for admitting
another 10,000 Vietnamese refugees
and up to 5,000 Soviet Jews and
Armenians to the United States,
says Rep. Joshua Eilberg, D-Pa.
Eilberg, chairman of a House
immigration subcommitte, said
Sunday department officials talked
to him, to Sen. Edward Kennedy,
D-M ass., and to congressional staff
members Saturday about the prob
lem. He said Attorney General Grif
fin Bell expects to visit Capitol Hill
early this week to discuss it.
Eilberg said some 5,000 Soviet
