Presented by: Political Forum /tep Into the m/c ■ /A If you are being commissioned You may want to join the Bank of A&M’s World-Wide program. When you go on active duty, your banking requirements will change dramatically. You’re going to move around the world. Your need for credit and for cash will be quite different from your classmates who return to their hometown to work and live. And the penalties for record keeping er rors are more severe for military officers than most (if not all) other professions. The World-Wide Department of the Bank of A&M was conceived to meet the needs of A&M officers on active duty. The department is staffed by Aggies with first hand experience of TDY, overseas movement, car financing in a foreign city, check-cashing problems at a military installation, allotments, telephone transfers, etc. The World-Wide program includes all the features of the so-called “military banks”: direct paycheck deposit, telephone loan service, write your own loan program, overseas car financ ing, automatic transfers from checking to savings (and visa versa), credit cards, overdraft protection . . . plus personal service by senior bank officers with career military experience and Aggie know-how. Visit the Bank of A&M today (or some day of convenience) before your commissioning date to learn how the Bank of A&M’s World-Wide Department can be of service to you. m The Bank of A&M member/fdic 111 University Drive/College Station/846-5721 Col. John Gudelman, assistant direc tor of placement for Texas A&M, said the question of inaccurate G.P.R.s has not been a concern for recruiters who use the Placement Office as a means for interviewing potential graduates. “Recruiters generally use the grade point ratio in conjunction with other factors. Most companies aren’t overly influenced by the G.P.R. by itself,” he said. G.P.R.s, like the economy, may be inflated at some schools, but the quality of the students and the products being marketed today are of a higher quality than ever before. This analogy was used by Dr. John E. Pearson, dean of the Col lege of Business Administration. Pearson said his observation is that businesses and graduate schools are placing a great deal of empb on G. P. R. s as a factor in hiring admissions. “Today, a student with a3.0i prepared as a student ten years who had an overall 3.5. Were;! this, but it is hard to convince cruiters that this is true,” Pearson said the higher qualilv faculty and curriculum at Ir A&M are results of studentsti working harder for grades. “Employers are getting a ha bargain now in their Ag graduates than they did in the I don’t think that there is ai| cheapened or inflated about grading system here,” he said, have had an improvement in quality of students in the past years and this is hard to mi Until we develop a measure quality, we will never be abletm termine for certain that thereissi a thing as inflation.” Battalion Classified Call 845-261 How Would You Like To: Travel to a foreign country Live with a family Learn a new language and taste new foods The Experiment in International Living offers you all this and MORE.
