Manning, associate professor of accounting. An evening reception and re tirement dinner will be preceded by a special afternoon accounting conference named in honor of Manning, who completes 36 years at Texas A&M. About 300 practicing CPAs and industrial executives, some former stu dents of Manning’s, will attend the conference on current issues in accounting practics. A retirement reception for the Yoakum native, who was born on the 36th anniversary of Texas A&M’s founding, is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. in room 212 of the Memorial Student Center. The dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m. in room 226 of the MSC. Guests at the head table are ex pected to include Texas A&M President Jarvis Miller, Dean of Business Administration John Pearson and former students representing each of the four decades that Manning taught here. Manning joined the Texas A&M University accouting fac ulty in 1941 after teaching at Robstown and Sinton public schools. He holds his under graduate degree from Texas A&I University and his master’s from the University of Texas. He be came a CPA in 1952. the Nov. 11 convention of the FFA in Kansas City, Mo. Ken will then beging a one- year term of public appearances and speaking engagements as he participates in functions involv ing the more than 8,000 FFA Chapters in the 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The agricultural economics major will leave his studies at A&M while serving as national FFA president. Another Aggie, Bobby Tucker of Mineola, served as national FFA president in 1975-76. He has returned to A&M and is presently a junior working to wards a degree in agricultural education. J. Ken Johnson II A Texas A&M University stu dent has been named national president of the 510,000- member Future Farmers of America organization. He is the second Texan and Aggie elected to that position within a three- year period. The new president is 19-year- old J. Ken Johnson II, Texas A&M freshman student from Nacogdoches and a rancher in his own right. Johnson was elected during Walter S.
