Shelton, Texas A&M University dean of veterinary medicine, has won the annual distin guished service award from the Uni versity of Missouri College of Vet erinary Medicine. The honor recalls Shelton’s 25 years of teaching, re search, service and administration. Shelton was associate dean of academic affairs at the Missouri vet erinary college when he resigned in 1973 to become dean of veterinary medicine at Texas A&M. 3312 S. School heads gather Oct. 19 Administrators of area high schools involved in the Texas A&M University student teaching pro gram will meet in Rudder lower Wednesday Oct. 19 to discuss future programs and suggested changes. Sponsors for the student teaching conference are the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children (TAEYC) and the educational cur riculum and instruction department of Texas A&M University. About 60 representatives from the schools are expected. The annual TAEYC meeting will | begin Oct. 20 on campus. Rollie White Coliseum vibrates as dance enthusiasts “cut a rug” to the sounds of ballroom music. Pamela D. Morton, health and physical education instructor at Texas A&M University, teaches 214 students in her four beginning and one intermediate dance classes. “I teach the fundamentals of all dance, including the fox-trot, cha- cha, waltz, polka, jitterbug, and rumba,” Morton said recently. “I enjoy the student’s acceptance of so cial dance.” After the first few classes, students are not as inhibited, she said. With the help of one other dance instructor, Morton also teaches square dancing, folk dancing, modern dancing, ballet, and tap dancing. “Social dancing is the most popu lar, Morton said. There must be an even number of women and men in each class for obvious reasons. As a result, many students were unable to enroll. The more serious dancers at A&M are members of the Dance Art Soci ety, the Social Dance Club, or both.
