It pays to shop around. Some
times prices are cheaper at stores
near campus, and sometimes they
can be cheaper at stores near resi
dential areas.
Beer, a popular item which some
students contend is a necessity of
life, is about two cents cheaper close
to campus than far away. Of seven
beers priced, four are cheaper close
to campus.
A recent sampling of prices shows
that of seven meat products in six
major food stores, five are cheaper
in stores close to campus than in
those far away. The five cuts total 50
cents cheaper per pound. Round
steak averages $1.52 in stores far
from campus and $1.29 in stores
close to campus. Beef rib eye steak
is 24 cents cheaper close to campus.
This is the largest difference in sam
pled meat prices between stores.
But not all food prices are cheaper
near campus. Stores located near
residential areas average three to
four cents cheaper on dairy prod
nets, cereals, canned fruits and can
ned vegetables. And of course
prices may change from one day to
another.

CINCINNATI — ‘The
passengers were screaming. . . in a
state of panic,” Queen City Metro
bus driver Eugene Davis said.
Frankly, I was seared too.”
The uproar was caused by a
purse-snatching bulldog.
Despite the panic, bus riders
foiled two attempts Friday by the
alleged canine thief.
Police said the dog jumped on the
bus while it was stopped, darted to
the rear and grabbed a purse. Other
riders yanked it away from the dog,
but the animal snatched a second
purse. It too was retrieved.
Before police could apprehend
the animal, the dog ran from the bus
and disappeared into a nearby yard.
