the Green Bay Packers for defensive
lineman Herb McMath and two un
disclosed draft choices.
Bradley, who lettered at Texas as
a quarterback, wide receiver and
.defensive back, is the Philadelphia
Eagles’ all-time interception leader
with 34. Acquired in the off-season
for a draft choice, the three-time
Pro Bowler had missed only two
games in his eight-year career.
Briscoe, a 10-year veteran from
Nebraska, played for six AFL and
NFL teams before New England
acquired him last fall. In his Pro
Bowl year of 1970 he caught a
league-high 57 passes for 1,036
yards while with Buffalo. New En
gland also cut veteran wide receiver
Randy Vataha.
Spurrier, a 10-year veteran who
starred at the University of Florida,
was waived by Miami. The Dol
phins preferred to use Don Strock
as their backup to veteran Bob
Griese, who finished second to
Spurrier in 1966 Heisman Trophy
balloting while at Purdue.
Miami also waived Ellis, who
played in two Pro Bowls and started
84 straight games from 1970 to 1975
for Green Bay, which traded him to
Houston last year with veteran
quarterback John Hadl and draft
choices for quarterback Lynn
Dickey.

With the 9.6 second speed of
Scott, and Coles’ ability to get loose
and make the big play will keep the
Aggie defense on their toes.
“It is interesting to note that Ros-
eoe had a better average yards per
carry on fewer carries last year than
George Woodard did,” backfield
coach Nelson Stokley said.
The Aggie offense will also be put
to the test against a strong Gobbler
defensive unit anchored by senior
linebacker Rick Razzano and junior
defensive back Gene Bunn.
Bunn, a one-year letterman, was
ranked seventh in the nation last
year in interceptions with a total of
seven.
Razzano is,”as gutsy as they
come,” said Sharpe. “He has those
intangible qualities that every coach
wants in a player.”
Noseguard Bill Houseright will
be trying to stop George Woodard
up the middle. An extremely agile
player for his size, ”he is as good as
there is,” according to Sharpe.
Sharpe is very cautious, yet con
fidently looking toward Saturday’s
game and the season ahead.
“No one game is going to make or
break our season. Before the year is
over we will have a good football
team and hopefully a winning rec
ord.”

Sullivan, a former Auburn
standout, got the ax from the San
Francisco 49ers. The 1971 Heisman
Trophy winner was tainted with the
accusation that he edged Cornell
running back Ed Marinaro, recently
cut by the New York Jets, because
of “bullet” votes cast by writers from
the South and Southwest in which
they named Sullivan as the winner
with no runners-up.
Atlanta waived six-year veteran
defensive tackle Jeff Yeates, New
Orleans cut fourth-year running
back Alvin Maxson, San Francisco
waived running back Kermit
Johnson and tight end Jim Ob-
radovich and Seattle cut 35-year-old
defensive end Bob Lurtsema.
In other developments, Chicago
placed veteran running back Mike
Adamle and defensive back Len
Walterscheid on the club’s inactive
roster and veteran running back
Larry Sehreiber on the injured re
serve list.
Oakland also put top draft pick
Mike Davis, a defensive back from
Colorado, on injured waivers, cut
kicker Rolf Benirsehke and running
back Ted McKnight and returned
veteran kicker Errol Mann to the
roster. Pittsburgh put running back
Frenchy Fuqua, wide receiver Theo
Bell, guard Steve Courson and de
fensive lineman Tom Beasley on the
injured reserve list.
