A valuable training tool, it had
prosaic beginnings when the late
Ralph Graeter, as art director for
Life Magazine, was frustrated by
the inability of photography to rec
ord, for instance, an auto mechanic
at work through the mechanic’s
eyes, Jean Graeter said in an inter
view.
Mrs. Graeter, whose interest in
electronics dates back to high school
when she bought a model-T Ford in
parts and put it together, “batted
the idea around with my husband
and little by little we came up with a
working model.”
They formed First Person Prod
uction Inc., with the idea of creating
unique films using their system to
prove its value to schools, hospitals
and industry.
Graeter died suddenly in 1975,
before the idea they had formulated
could be carried out.
“But we had discussed the pos
sibilities of GraeterVision, and it
had become almost a crusade with
us, Mrs. Graeter said.
