Summer blood drives are rela- ely new, noted Bill Adams of plla Phi Omega, but the 1977 Ejjner drive has great potential for palling spring and fall drives. Since the first drive in 1959, Texas cM students have donated more ■ 14,000 units of blood. After lunteers giving more than 650 its during the first four years, the ident Senate recognized the im portance of individual protection for students, faculty and alumni. In 1963, the club was organized with blood credits being made available to students and their families. Growing participation efuring the 1960s enabled extending coverage to former students and ther families and faculty-staff and their families. To replace blood used, the eligi ble person has only to notify the welfare benefits coordinator at the Texas A&M Student Government Office. He added that the committee will probably screen out exceptional cases rather than look at individual faculty members. The committee will look at why some don’t teach very many hours. “There are good reasons for some and not for others.” Robert Cherry, assistant to the president at Texas A&M University, said the bill will have some effect. “Instead of the legislature setting forth special recommendations, they have asked the coordinating boards (of each university) to do this in a more professional way,” Cherry said. And graduate teaching assistants have nothing to worry about. “At some universities there may be some effect on their jobs, but not at A&M,” Cherry said. Article 4, section 33 of the gen eral appropriations bill carries a rider which fines universities for fail ure to comply with regulations. The present bill looks pretty good to me. We won’t lose money be cause we ll comply,” Cherry said. Embrey’s Jewelry We Specialize In Aggie Rings. Diamonds Set — Sizing — .
