Thurmond honored
Texas A&M pitcher Mark Thur-
ond was was named to the Ameri-

Seventeen-year-old Don Heu-
ghan of Ontario, Canada will come
to Texas after winning the 880-
yard run at the International Prep
Invitational. Heughan’s time was
1:48.7, six-tenths of a second off
the Southwest Conference record.
Price also signed Jamaican Den
nis Henry, 18, who has run the
quarter mile in 46.8 seconds.
Actually, Price is not against all
foreign athletes, just those he terms
“overage”— meaning those who are
three or more years older than
American athletes. Thus, his two
recruits do not fall in that category.
Texas also signed high jumper
Kelvin Brown from Dade South
Junior College in Miami, Fla.
Brown won the national junior col
lege title in the event with a leap of
7-2 1 /6 feet.
Perhaps someone should check
Brown’s legs for hidden springs as
he stands only 5-10. Seldom is
