Be more understanding to everyone and really show them no matter who they are — non-reg or cadet in the Corps—the yell leaders represent everyone on this campus. Also, the yell leaders should talk and meet everyone, not just certain elite people or groups. MACMANUS Tim Macmanus, 20, Junior, Ag Economics major from Combes, T exas. One year’s experience as a junior yell leader, which is essential for cause two-thirds of the student body lives off-campus. The school paper, yell practices and athletic functions could and should be used to unify the student body. Tim MacManus MAXWELL two of the senior yell leaders to have. What do you consider to be your role in student affairs? To keep students informed on traditions of A&M and current sporting events that are going on. A yell leader is an ambassador for the University when he travels with the different teams and must do his best to portray a good image of the school. Should yell leaders serve as spokesmen for student athletes? Yes. The yell leaders have a bet ter chance to get to know the athletes and should relate the athletes’ problems to the student body. What are your qualifications for this office? I am interested in conserving the fine tradition of spirit at Texas A&M University in an ever increasing di versified student body. I believe that all students regardless of back ground, can share in this spirit and beautiful traditions of this universi ty, and I can more than adequately represent them. What do you consider to be your role in student affairs? I will ever strive to be a fair and impartial spokesman of all students dent that has a deep concern and wishes to express an opinion about Texas A&M University. Should yell leaders serve as spokesmen for student athletes? Athletes are students too, and a yell leader gives them equal repre sentation with the rest of the stu dent body. How would you unify the increas ingly diverse student body at Texas A&M? Unification of such a large student population can be easily achieved by maintaining high visibility and an open mind to students of varying opinions and outlooks on life in this campus. I represent an alternative voice—A CIVILIAN VOICE—-that I feel better represents todays cam pus, keeping ever before me the century-old traditions of this fine university. cal Science major from Siii Texas. I view student affairs as activities that I am involved in outside of academic pursuits. My involvement in campus activities include Resi dence Hall Association, Traditions Council Executive Committee, Bonfire and Yell Leader Commit tee, the Aggie Club, SCONA, and president of Moses Hall. Should yell leaders serve as spokesmen for student athletes? I feel that student athletes are as able to express themselves as I am, and I don’t see the need for yell leaders to be student athlete spokesmen. However, the yell leaders should be in close contact with athletes. How would you unify the increas ingly diverse student body at Texas A&M? I would show no partiality to any organization or group of students. The yell leader should be a leader of Aggies with no bias on their prefer ences. I would also share my fire and enthusiasm for Texas A&M and emphasize the common bond of pride that all true Aggies must have. REAGAN Joe Reagan, 21, Junior, Biomedi- teers.
