As for accelerated students, this year, for the first time, we have fully state-funded resource teachers at the elementary and middle schools and then we have a special program at the high school that the Univer sity has research funds for. I want to see quality in the con struction program because just one error in the area of capital outlay would cost us enough to underwrite all of the special programs that have been questioned recently. There cun be a lot done with the free and inexpensive mate rials that involves fathers on a Saturday. In a way, those are some times the most imaginative because many times the fancy and expensive equipment the children tend to boycott. The other that is nicely designed and kind of unique attracts them. How do you feel about current taxation methods and how do you feel it could be improved? Basically, the taxation is a state issue. Citizens interested in correct ing this will have to take tin trouble to become informed and work for change at the state level because ad valorem taxes are regressive and abominable. As for what adjustments can be made on our own local budget, I do not think we are out of line as far as the amount expended per pupil. Most districts receive quite a lot more federal funding that we do not qualify for so we do have to put more local funds into it. This hurts us. The only industry we have is the Texas A&M campus and it is not taxable. So it falls on the residential and rural property.owners. rent taxation methods and how do you feel it could be improved?
