in 1898 by Frederic Remington.
Some of the finest paintings and
bronzes depicting the American
frontier are on display at the Rudder
Center exhibit hall.
Part of the Sid W. Richardson col
lection of works by Frederic Re
mington and Charles M. Russell is
re-visiting the campus until Aug. 19.
The showing opened Monday.
Most of the 30 paintings and 10
bronzes in the current exhibit were
shown he;re in 1974!
“It’s like meeting old friends
again,” one art-lover remarked.
The cooperation and financial as
sistance of the Richardson Founda
tion and the Amon Carter Museum
of Western Art made the showing
possible. Besides providing the
works themselves, the organizations
also provided funds to hire guards.
The showing is officially for the
enjoyment of the members and
guests of the 68th annual meeting of
the American Society of Animal Sci-
eiice, but anyone can view the
artworks while the Rudder Complex
is open (usually 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.)
Security personnel counted 106
persons scanning and studying the
famous paintings and bronzes Sun
day after they were installed.
