Wildlife disease experts
convene at Texas A&M
Almost 200 authorities on wildlife
diseases convened at Texas A&M
University Monday for the start of
the annual Wildlife Disease Associa
tion conference.
Speakers from throughout the U.
S., Canada and Kenya will review a
wide range of species and diseases.
Symposia concentrate on re
search trends and enigma of the
meningeal worm.
The four-day meeting of the
international organization features
an array of papers and presentations
on afilictions of mammals, birds and
fish.
One paper examines Venezuelan
equine encephalitis (VEE) serology
in the Western diamond-back
rattlesnake, and another the infec
tion of the currently vogue ar
madillo with human leprosy.
Keynoting the program was Dr.
Lars Karstad of Kabete, Kenya’s
veterinary research laboratory. The
pathologist and author delivered the
address at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in
Rudder Tower.

Duplicate bridge game
to fund team, charity
A special duplicate bridge game
will be held by the Texas A&M
Bridge Club on Friday, July 30, at 8
p.m. in the Memorial Student Cen
ter.
This Olympiad Charity Game
helps to fund both the North
American Olympiad team and this
year’s American Contract Bridge
League charity, the Arthritis Foun
dation.
The game will take place simul
taneously with the finals for the
selection of the North American
Olympic Bridge Team and will carry
a sectional rating. Entry fee is six
dollars per pair. For reservations

for the Air Force Association-Texas
AFROTC Cadet of the Year Award.
The statewide award will be pre
sented during the AFA-T conven
tion July 23-25 in Houston.

DuChamp is the second Aggie in
