The awards were presented at a banquet that was held Friday night in Houston's Hyatt Regency Hotel Each memlier of the team was presented with a team picture and would have also received Southwest (inference championship rings, but the rings have not been delivered. The staff and close affiliates of the Southwest Conference champs also were presented with team pictures. The voice of Aggie basketball, Mike Mistovich. attended the affair and did not approach the mi crophone except to receive the pic ture which Metcalf presented to the sports announcer. The evening went smoothly ex cept for the loud music which came from a rock band playing in the adja cent ballroom When Emory Bellard approached the podium and began to speak, he said that he did not know- whether he should talk or dance. Dr. Shelby Metcalf told how- tough it is to be a champ. He told the crowd that if a person is to be in command out in the world, he must also be in command at home. "And I want you to know that 1 have breakfast in lied every morn ing," Metcalf said.
