Dolph Briscoe said Wednesday he
will propose to the state legislature a
bill calling lor the elimination of
good-time credit for persons con
victed of certain felonies.
The governor made the an
nouncement in a luncheon speech
during the last day of the Sam
Rayburn Public Affairs symposium
in Commerce.
Current law allows a prison to re
ceive up to 60 days of credit for each
30 days served based on good be
havior. A prison is eligible for parole
after having served one third of his
sentence, including good-time cred
it.
